Abstract:
Bioreactors can be used effectively for large-scale production of somatic embryos.
Measurement and control of various factors within the vessel allow precise analyses of interactions of growth parameters which are responsible for cell growth and embryo development.
Different bioreactor designs have still to be tested and adapted to mass propagation of various species.
Bioreactors (B. Braun Diessel Biotech, FRG, and Applikon, NL) equipped with vibration stirrers and bubble free aeration systems have been successfully used for embryogenic suspension cultures of the ornamental plant poinsettia (Euphorbia pulcherrima).
