ISHS Acta Horticulturae 289: International Symposium on Plant Biotechnology and its Contribution to Plant Development, Multiplication and Improvement

MICROPROPAGATION OF ALBIZZIA LEBBECK BENTH.

Authors:   T.M. Varghese, A. Kaur
Abstract:
Albizzia lebbeck was successfully propagated from the hypocotyl and leaf explants in Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium with proper combinations of NAA and BAP. More than a dozen variants could be developed adopting the tissue culture technique. The differentiating callus revealed a marked reduction in starch, proteins, beta amylase, invertase, MDH, peroxidase and phosphatase and an increase in soluble sugars and amino acids during initiation of shoot.
