| Abstract:
The results of the study on the management and utilization of O.cornuta for orchard pollination in Yugoslavia are presented. O.cornuta has been recently used for orchard pollination in the vicinity of Belgrade (Yugoslavia). As the nesting material the bundles of reed tubes Phragmites communis Trin., paper tubes (implanted into wooden blocks) and, in the last two years, loose system hives, distributed in or around the orchard in various shelters, have been used. Due to a considerable parasitism, found in the grown populations, it is recommended to remove cocoons from the nesting material until the next season. In this way multiplication rate of parasite free populations of O.cornuta is appreciably higher. | |
