ISHS Acta Horticulturae 287: II International Symposium on Protected Cultivation of Vegetables in Mild Winter Climates

A STUDY OF LIGHT TRANSMISSIVITY OF DIFFERENT PLASTIC MATERIALS USED FOR COVERING GREENHOUSES

Authors:   F. Pandopoulos, M. Grafiadellis
Abstract:
From 1983 to 1989 twenty five different greenhouse covering materials were studied at the Agricultural Research Center of Northern Greece. From the materials the majority were different kinds of PE films.

From the experiments one was conducted in normal greenhouses and three other in samples of plastics materials exposed to external weather conditions.

In the tests conducted light transmissivity of the plastics materials, life span, dust attraction and moisture condensation have been studied. The main emphasis of the research was given to the study of the change in time of light transmissivity of the covering materials.

The results of the research are presented in this work.
