ISHS Acta Horticulturae 287: II International Symposium on Protected Cultivation of Vegetables in Mild Winter Climates

EFFECTS OF DIFFERENT GRAFTING METHODS ON THE SUCCESS OF GRAFTING AND YIELD OF EGGPLANT/TOMATO GRAFT COMBINATION

Authors:   M.A. VURUSKAN, R. YANMAZ
Abstract:
This research was carried out to determine the effects of three different grafting techniques (Cleft, whip and tongue, late-ralperforation) on the success of grafting and yield of eggplant grafted on tomato.

According to the results the highest success ratio was obtained from cleft grafting with 83.3 %. These ratios were 69.7 % in whip and tongue grafting and 43.7 in lateral perforation techniques. There was no significant difference between rootstock and scions. In cv. Prelane F1, early and total yield increases were found to be 84–106 % and 39–67 % in comparison with the control. For cv Baluroi F1, the corresponding values were 69–122 % and 22–51%.

It was determined that grafting applications did not significant effect the diameter, length and volume of fruits.
