Abstract:
The economic consequences of the prevailing heating systems of the vegetable-greenhouses in Northern Greece are measured using the two basic methods of comparison: the direct and the indirect.
The direct method is referred to actual data of farms using different systems of heating, and the indirect is referred to optimum plans deriving by linear programming.
Data were collected by keeping records and accounts in 50 farms for the period 1987–1988 and 1988–89. Useful results were drawn referring to the profitability of each system of heating, which are quite similar for both methods.
