Abstract:
Evaporation, as investigated in a course of previous studies, was found to be reduced under plastichouse in comparison with open field.
There are many factors that affect evaporation, mainly temperature, relative humidity and solar radiation.
These parameters were recorded and correlation analysis between these variables and pan evaporation was performed.
The results indicated that, although there is a wide range of variation, there is a positive relationship between evaporation outside and inside the plastichouse.
Also there is a trend of a positive relationship between relative humidity measured in the greenhouse at and pan evaporation with a high correlation coefficient.
The data showed the same trend in two successiue seasons 1988, 1989.
The results were discussed in relation to the different factors affecting transpiration inside and outside the plastichouse.
A formula was suggested for the easy prediction of water consumption as a function of air relative humidity.
