Abstract:
Muskmelon plants were regenerated from cotyledons of ‘Gulfstream’ muskmelon on CR-01 (Murashige and Skoog salts, Gamborg's B5 vitamins, 3% sucrose, 10 μM 3-indoleacetic acid (IAA), 5μM 6-benzylamino purine (BAP), 0.7% agar) culture medium.
Ro plants were selfed for two generations.
Cytological studies showed that progeny from three of four Ro plants were tetraploid (2n=48) and differed morphologically from the diploid plants in size of flower, ovary, fruit, and seed as well as leaf shape.
