ISHS Acta Horticulturae 286: International Symposium on Olive Growing

EFFECT OF POLYAMINE TREATMENTS ON ROOTING CUTTING OF THREE OLIVE CULTIVARS

Authors:   E. Rugini, V. Politi, C. Bignami, M. De Agazio, S. Grego
Abstract:
The treatment of olive cuttings with both IBA and Putrescine increased rooting percentage and promoted early rooting in three cultivars tested in October and March. When Putrescine was administered in the absence of IBA an increase of rooting was observed only in cuttings collected in March. IBA and Putrescine dispersed in talc were more effective than the same substances dissolved in alcohol-water solution. No difference in the efficiency of K+ absorption was observed between root system from cuttings treated with IBA compared to roots from cuttings treated with both IBA and Putrescine.
