Abstract:
The production of walnut trees has been done in the nursery of the "Rákóczi" co-operativ since 1970 by flute budding.
The trees develop within two years to 150–250 cm height.
Juglans nigra, Juglans regia and Pterocaria stenoptera species are used as stocks, and Hungarian varieties as a scion.
The operations to produce walnut nursery trees are the followings:
- year: - stratification in bags into sawdust
- germination at 25°C
- planting out germinated seeds
- flute budding
- cutting the bandage
- covering with sand
- year: - weeding
- cutting the stock back to the bud
- sprouting
- staking
- digging, lifting
