Abstract:
The material studied results from crosses between Greengage taken as female genitor because of a great fruit quality and four male genitors chosen for their fruit size ant their early or late ripening date.
Without any information on the specific cross abilities of the cultivars and on the transmission of the characters, the genitors were chosen considering their phenotypic value.
The half-sib structure of the families made it interesting to study variability and heritability.
Thirty characters concerning the tree, its floral biology and the fruit have been studied performing a variance analysis which permitted to point out, for example, a significant effect of the male genitor for earliness of ripening or tree shape.
Nevertheless in lot of cases the intra-family dispersion of the character is as important as the between family one which indicates that the effects of environnment, heterosis, dominance are more important than the only additive one.
The utilization of the intra-class correlation permitted us to give a superior limit to broad heritability for the quantitative characters and some genetic models of transmission are proposed for qualitive characters.
The statistical analysis were limited by the structure of the data collected from an experimental plot where exclused.
Anyway this study contributes to the knowledge of genetic of an hexaploid species and will permit us to establish new hybridization programs.
