Abstract:
Different decline diseases occuring on different Prunus species have been compared.
All diseased plants gave positive response to DAPI test indicating the presence of DNA organisms inside the sieve tubes of the diseased plants.
Electronic microscopy revealed the presence of MLO's for the main decline diseases.
The incidence of these diseases have been studied either in nurseries on different graft/rootstock combinations and in orchard of prune grafted on P. Marianna GF 8-1 and inoculated with four different isolates.
It appears that the symptoms are essentially dependent on the rootstocks.
In orchard, the main effect is the limitation of growth whereas the yield is not greatly affected.
