ISHS Acta Horticulturae 283: IV International Symposium on Plum and Prune Genetics, Breeding and Pomology

'A CLONAL SELECTION WITHIN THE SHARKA TOLERANT PLUM CULTIVAR 'BUHLER FRUHZWETSCHE'

Author:   W. Hartmann
Abstract:
The cultivar 'Bühler Frühzwetsche', ripening end of July to middle of August, is very popular because of regular, high cropping and the tolerance to sharka. During a propagation time of nearly 150 years many types originated. In a preliminary selection 15 types were choosen for a selection trial. Ripening time, fruit weight and yield were the most important characteristics. 3 early ripening types, 2 normal ripening types and 1 late ripening type were recommended for propagation.
