ISHS Acta Horticulturae 283: IV International Symposium on Plum and Prune Genetics, Breeding and Pomology

GENOMIC ORGANIZATION OF PLUM POX VIRUS AND RECOMBINANT DNA TECHNOLOGY TO COMBAT PLUM POX VIRUS.

Authors:   M. Ravelonandro, P.-Y. Teycheney, G. Tavert, T. Wetzel, M. Monsion, R. Delbos, J. Dunez
Abstract:
Complete sequence of plum pox virus (PPV) RNA has been used to study the genetic structure and expression of this genome. Cloned cDNA was basically produced to this analysis. The predicted polypeptide from PPV RNA sequence corresponds to a single protein of 3125 to 3141 amino acids which is processed in eight products including the coat protein. PPV coat protein gene is used to detect viral nucleic acid in infected plants and so transferred into tobacco plants to interfere symptom development and viral mutiplication.
