EVALUATION OF NEW MARIANNA ROOTSTOCKS FOR FRENCH PRUNE

Authors:   J.W. Osgood, S.M. Southwick, J.T. Yeager, W.H. Olson, C. Weakley, M. Norton
Abstract:
Horticultural characteristics of french prune (Prunus domestica syn. 'petite d'Agen') are being evaluated on 10 advanced rootstock selections developed at the University of California, Davis. The selections were developed from seedling populations of marianna 2616 and 2624.

Preliminary results show significantly greater increase in trunk cross sectional area (TCSA). In addition, less rootstock suckers were produced by some selected rootstocks as compared to marianna 2624.
