ISHS Acta Horticulturae 281: II Workshop on Greenhouse Construction and Design

EVALUATION CRITERIA OF THERMIC TREND IN THE MEDITERRANEAN COVERED CROPS

Authors:   S. Porcelli, R. D'Amore
Abstract:
A.A. report on the behaviour of three diverse V/S cubature ratios tunnels, covered by different plastic films: "Eva antitau, Hostaflon 22, Coextrusions Multieva and Multisolar, Calor 2C, Eva Patilux and PE, provided with protection systems fit to decrease thermic losses: thermic screens, double wall, hydrotunnel and double walled hydrotunnel".

The results obtained during the two-year period of 1986–88 in the South of Italy, showed a positive thermic trend for tunnels with a larger V/S cubature ratio, covered by Eva and Coextrusion plastic films, equipped with some defence systems at low temperatures, such as the thermic screened hydrotunnel and the double walled hydrotunnel.

These systems eployment and particularly, the one of the double walled hydrotunnel, characterized by a high thermic output, allows the meso and macrotherme winter crops growth, even in the agricultural areas in the Northern Mediterranean basin.
