Abstract:
Tomato cotyledons (Lycopersicon esculentum Mill. cv.
UC 105) were treated with gamma rays before regeneration.
Regenerated plants and subsequent progenies R1 and R2, were evaluated in greenhouse and in field for mutants.
No different spectrum of mutations were induced but an increase of the frequency of agronomically interesting mutants has been obtained.
An analysis of clonal progenies revealed a chimeric structure in 83 % of mutants.
