Abstract:
Stem and leaf explants of Passiflora coerulea L. were cultured on a basal medium containing Murashige and Skoog salts plus 3% sucrose and several hormonal and growth substance combinations at different concentrations.
Stem explants formed only callus whereas leaf explants produced callus and regenerated shoots.
The most effective hormonal treatment to induce shoots from leaves was a combination of auxin plus benzyladenine (BA). Shoot induction was more effective with 2,4-D than NAA.
