ISHS Acta Horticulturae 279: III International Workshop on Temperate Zone Fruits in the Tropics and Subtropics

IN-VITRO VEGETATIVE MULTIPLICATION OF KIWI PLANT

Authors:   S. Wiyaporn, S. Subhadrabandhu, O. Sahavacharin
Abstract:
An experiment on the in vitro multiplication of Kiwi fruit (Actinidia chinensis Planch) var. Bruno was conducted. Using the combination of cytokinin with basal Murashige and Skoog (MS) medium, the effects of growth regulators on growth and development of isolated stem segment, node and petiole were evaluated. It was shown that the formation of shoot bud was induced from stem segment on MS medium supplemented with 3 mg/L of 6 (15, 15-dimethylallyl amino)-purine (2ip). Well developed roots were obtained after transferring the exised shoots to half strength MS supplemented with 0.5 mg/L of benzyladenine (BA), 0.5 mg/L of naphthaleneacetic acid (NAA) and 3 g/L of activated charcoal. The plants were successfully transferred to soil at 6 weeks after subculturing.
