AN INVESTIGATION INTO METHODS OF INCREASING FRUIT SIZE OF KIWIFRUIT IN THAILAND |

| Abstract:
An investigation into the possible methods of increasing fruit size of kiwifruit cv. Bruno planted at the Royal Ang Khang Station was conducted during April 1987 to July 1987. Young fruits at the age of 10 days old after flowering dipped with 20 ppm. KT solution (a cytokinin-like chemical) showed the highest average fruit diameter and fruit length of 3.85 cm and 7.90 cm respectively. Pollination by hand or by using a pollen sprayer increased fruit size compared to those developed from natural pollination. Ten days after flowering was the most suitable time for thinning the fruits to increase fruit length compared with thinning at 5 or 20 days after flowering. Leaf: fruit ratios ranging from 3:1 to 9:1 had no significant effect on fruit size. | |
