AUTOMATION OF IRRIGATION THROUGH EVAPOTRANSPIROMETERS |

| Abstract:
This report describes the adjustments made to a recorder evapotranspirometer which has already been used in some experimental fields for some years, and a new system to automize waterings, in the determination of yield-watering volumes curves in the field on the basis of the recorded water consumption. The system being simple and its components easily found on the market, it is accessible to researchers and agricultural operators. The system was set up by the 'Centro Studio sull'Orticoltura Industriale' of the National Research Council at the experimental farm "E. Pantanelli" of the University of Bari. It was tested in 1987 on a broccoli crop (Brassica oleracea L. var. italica Pleuck) grown in lysimeters and in the surrounding plot (900 m2) for the investigation on water consumption. The recording of water consumptions and the related data processing were very good. The operation of the automatic system was very satisfactory. | |
