ISHS Acta Horticulturae 277: III International Symposium on Processing Tomatoes

DIFFERENT KINDS AND LEVELS OF NITROGEN NUTRITION IN TOMATOES

Author:   M. Cerne
Abstract:
On the sandy clay soil two different kinds of nitrogen fertilizers, ammonium sulphate and calcium ammonium nitrate, and three levels of nitrogen supply: 75, 125 and 175 kg/ha were investigated. The highest yields were obtained with 175 kg/ha nitrogen in both forms of fertilization. With tomatoes fertilized with calcium ammonium nitrate more fruits per plant were developed than with ammonium sulphate. With ammonium sulphate 18% of all fruits showed blossom-end rot, with calcium ammonium nitrate 3% less fruits were infected.
