Abstract:
The guava (Psidium guajava) adapts well to different environmental conditions.
The Brazilian guava industry consists of distinct processing (based on red flesh cultivars) and fresh fruit industries (based predominantly on white fleshed cultivars). The success of the guava industry depends primarily on suitable cultivars, for example the processing 'Rica' and 'Paluma' cultivars, which have recently been released to the industry, and efficient cultural practices.
Various cultural practices which are recommended for each industry, are discussed.
