Abstract:
Ginger is cultivated in the subtropical regions of the Republic of South Africa.
Being a tropical crop, it is subjected to stress factors such as high summer temperatures associated with low humidity.
With the use of an evaporative cooling system these stress factors were greatly reduced and production was increased by more than 25%. Evaporative cooling has a pronounced effect on the leaf and soil temperatures as well as the humidity between plants.
