EFFECT OF FERTILIZATION OF TWO APPLE CULTIVARS WITH MACRO AND MICROELEMENTS |

| Abstract:
The experiment was set up in spring 1981 at the Experimental Station in Dabrowice near Skierniewice, Poland, on sandy loam, grey-brown podsolic soil, poor in organic matter and Mg, showing pHKC1 = 5.6, on Antonovka seedlings with dwarfing interstem B 9. Standard mineral fertilization (N-100, P2O5-50 and K2O–100 kg per ha) resulted in an increase of yield of both cultivars. Lime had no positive effect on yield but improved fruit coloration of Empire apples. Mulching with FYM increased yield of both cultivars and in case of cv Empire it gave better results than mineral fertilization. Entirely foliar fertilization with Florovit had no effect on yield of Empire and slightly decreased yield of MacSpur E. Calcium chloride sprays caused a decrease of yields while foliar applications of calcium phosphate increased the yield of Empire trees. After the severe winter 1986/87 fertilized trees yielded much better than the unfertlized ones; a positive effect of calcium phosphate sprays was also noted. | |
