Abstract:
In a field experiment lasting 7 years it was testified that dolomite ground to a diameter of 0.2 mm or less and having more than 20% MgO supplies satisfactory apple orchards on strongly acidic sandy soils with Mg for 3–5 years if applied in doses 2–4 t/ha.
On the light sandy soils however, it is not advised to apply more than 2–4 t/ha of dolomite in a period of 2–3 years beacuse it may lead to a too high level of available Mg.
Jonathan and Starking trees on rootstock M4 showed moderate requirements to available Mg.
