Abstract:
Due to the high variability of fire blight incidence, it is very difficult to assess the efficiency of a chemical under natural conditions of infection.
Therefore artificial inoculations both in the orchard and in the greenhouse were used to obtain further informations for the optimization of sprays with FIRESTOP® against fire blight.
Results of several experiments are presented : effect of spray volume, concentration of chemical, date of application (as compared to date of inoculation), persistence after spray, efficiency on pear and apple.
This study showed that FIRESTOP® applied at the recommended concentration (300 ppm) and the recommended spray volume (1000 l/ha) is very efficient on pear, less efficient on apple, provided that sprays are repeated at intervals.
