Abstract:
The control of fire blight in some climatic areas is an intrinsically difficult problem.
In such cases, it is worth reassessing basic assumptions at intervals and asking questions is one way of helping to stimulate debate and to gain new insight into the problem.
The questions posed here are a small sample of those which have arisen from personal experience; others will ask different questions.
Success in research rests on a variety of factors and some of these are discussed.
