Abstract:
Over 250 cultivars of 34 species were evaluated weekly to determine adaptability to southeastern United States conditions.
Evaluations were based on foliar color, floriferousness, uniformity of plants within the cultivar, flower fading, and disease and insect resistance.
Overall performance ratings were compiled each week and season-long performance was tracked over time.
Cultivars within a species varied widely in their performance rating, some species proved unsatisfactory at certain times of year and new species were identified with potential for the Southeastern landscape industry.
