Abstract:
The effect of light, CO2, and temperature on whole plant net carbon (C) exchange of four miniature rose cultivars, 'Lady Sunblaze', 'Orange Sunblaze', 'Red Rosamini', and 'Sunbird' were studied using computer controlled net CO2 exchange chambers (Dutton et al., 1988). All the cultivars had similar net photosynthetic response to irradiance with saturating irradiance of 1000 μmol m-2s-1 PAR. At saturating irradiance and 22°C, net photosynthesis of the four cultivars was saturated at 800 μ1 1-1 CO2. However, temperature responses varied with cultivars.
At temperatures over 25°C, whole plant net photosynthesis of 'Lady Sunblaze', 'Orange Sunblaze', and 'Red Rosamini' decreased significantly, but 'Sunbird' was more tolerate to high temperature.
