Abstract:
This was the Second International Symposium held by ISHS at Michigan State University.
Michigan is the largest seasonal producer of bedding plants in the United States.
The Symposium was held in late April so that those attending could visit commercial operations during the height of their production season.
Further, Michigan State University hosted this Symposium so that those attending could visit our new $30,000,000 research and teaching facility.
Approximately 70 people participated in the Symposium.
The format of the Symposium gave time for formal presentations, informal discussions, poster sessions and tours of major production areas of Michigan.
All of us in the floriculture section at Michigan State University thank those who participated in this symposium.
We also wish to thank ISHS for sanctioning this Symposium and Dr.
IS. VandeBerg, Secretary General of ISHS for his help and financial support.
We hope all thos who attended prospered from the information and friendship that was showed by all those who participated.
These proceedings will provide a fine summary of the information showed by those involved in this event.
We hope you will prosper from them.
