CHEMICAL CONTROL OF THIELAVIOPSIS BLACK ROT OF PINEAPPLE IN THE CANARY ISLANDS

Authors:   J.M. Hernandez Hernandez, L. Sala Mayato
Abstract:
To determine control of Thielaviopsis black rot of pineapple and to assess possible cultivar resistance, 3 fungicides - Triadimefon, Imazalil and Triadimenol - and two cultivars - "Red Spanish" and "Smooth Cayenne" - were compared. The results show that Triadimenol was the best although none of the fungicides achieved complete control; and that "Red Spanish" was more prone to rot damages than "Smooth Cayenne", in correlation with a higher degree of TSS.
