Abstract:
Bananas traditionally account for the highest volume of fruit imports, and commonly occur in the Chilean diet.
The competitive and complementary influence of fresh banana fruit imports in relation to the domestic fruit marketing in Chile was analyzed.
The time series analysis method was used, and simple correlation among volume, variability, prices, apparent consumption, real income, and the number and composition of the population are established.
Depending on season, the substitution between apples and table grapes and bananas was shown.
