ISHS Acta Horticulturae 267: VI Symposium on the Timing of Field Production of Vegetables

THE MAJOR TRAITS OF DIFFERENT CAULIFLOWER CULTIVARS

Authors:   M. Djurovka, Z. Ilin, V. Markovic
Abstract:
An ivestigation was conducted in the period 1986 – 1988 on 11 cauliflower cultivars: Snowball, Idol, Imperial, Snow Crown, Vernon, Andes, Cervina, Jura, Snowflower, White Rock and White Fox. The cultivars were raised from transplants which were planted in early July (as a double crop).

The dynamics and uniformity of maturing varied in dependance of year and cultivar. The longest period of maturing was recorded in 1986, the shortest in 1987, 5 September, 3 November and 11 September, 25 October, respectively. The cultivars Idol and Snow Crown had an uneven and long forming of inflorescences while the cultivars Cervina and Jura had a uniform maturing. The cultivars Vernon, Idol, Imperial and Snow Crown were distinguished for high yields. Their average yields in 1986, 1987 and 1988 were 20.71 t/ha, 10.93 t/ha and 36.20 t/ha, respectively.
