EFFECT OF SEVERAL HERBICIDES ON GLADIOLUS PLANTS CULTIVATED FROM CORMS AND CORMELS

Authors:   M. Mynett, M. Jagusz
Abstract:
Several herbicides were used after planting gladiolus cv.Eurovision corms size 8–10 cm and cormels size <4 cm. Metazachlor (1.5 kg/ha), pendimetaline (1.32 kg/ha) and pendimetaline + metamitron (1.32 + 2.1 kg/ha) caused no injury to plants originating from corms and cormels. On plots treated with linuron (1.5 kg/ha), linuron + napropamide (1.5 + 1.5 kg/ha), linuron + fluazifop-P-butyl (1.5 + 1.5 kg/ha) and cyanazine (1.5 kg/ha) necrosis of leaf tips was observed, but without a decrease of weight of the cormels. The same herbicides used in corms caused no injury. Terbacil (0.8 kg/ha) caused severe damages of gladiolus plants originating from either corms and cormels.
