EFFECTIVENESS OF PESTICIDES IN CONTROL OF NARCISSUS BULB FLY, MERODON EQUESTRIS (L.)

Authors:   W. Bogatko, M. Mynett
Abstract:
Effectiveness of 26 pesticides in control of the narcissus bulb fly was evaluated during 3–4 growing seasons. The most effective appeared to be oxamyl (Vydate 10 G) and aldicarb (Temik 10 g) incorporated into the soil on the turn of April and May at the dose 8 kg of a.i. ha. Satisfactory effectiveness showed terbuphos (Counter 5 G), fonophos (Dyfonate 10 G), isofenphos (Oftanol 10 G) applied as soil granulates and carbophuran (Furadan 350 F), chlorpiryphos (Dursban 4 E), isofenphos (Oftanol EC 50) and carbosulphon (Marshall) applied as soil watering at the dose 500 hl ha.

In chemical treatment of bulbs the most effective were carbophuran (Furadan 35 ST, Diafuran 35 ST), isofenphos (Oftanol EC 50), metylopirimiphos (Actellic 50 EC) and diazinon (Basudin 25 EC, Diazinon 25 EC). It has been shown that the soaking of bulbs in chemical compounds during 1 h increased larvae mortality when compared with 0,5 h soaking.
