Abstract:
In the presence of high disease incidence (20–60% of infected fruit in the control plots) incited by mixed populations of isolates of Botrytis cinerea Pers., which were sensitive (S) and double resistant to benzimidazoles and dicarboximides (RBD) (90:10), the best results in controlling strawberry grey mould were offered by the mixture of a benzimidazole (benomyl or carbendazim) + diethofencarb, a fungicide showing negative cross resistance to benzimidazoles.
Also, alternating procymidone with the mixture carbendazim + diethofencarb showed very interesting results.
Benzimidazoles or dicarboximides, used alone, gave only partial control.
Attempts to reduce the use of chemicals by taking advantage of the antagonistic fungus Trichoderma, used as foliar spray (107 conidia/ml), did not offer satisfactory control of grey mould.
