SIMPLE GREENHOUSE HEATING INSTALLATIONS FOR GEOTHERMAL ENERGY USE IN MEDITERRANEAN MILD WINTER CLIMATES |

| Abstract:
Mediterranean mild climate is conditioning development of different greenhouse constructions, heating and ventilation equipment than in the Middle and North European ones. Short production season does not justify expensive full conditioned glasshouses, for most of vegetable and flower cultures. Simple and cheap plastichouse constructions and installations are in use, with differences depending on local gardening tradition, knowledge concentration, economical and social conditions of concrete location. Five most known and several new types of simple heating installations are overviewed in the paper, particularly depending on the convenience for geothermal energy use as energeting fluid. Possible comparisons are made, taking into account all consisting limitations, mainly based on the experiences reached through the collaboration work of European scientists and specialists in the frame of FAO/CNRE Network on Geothermal Energy Use in Agriculture. Finally, a trial to foresee future development is made, depending on the present status and changes of marketing conditions. | |
