ISHS Acta Horticulturae 262: V International Symposium on Rubus & Ribes

THE EFFECT OF BEATER AND GROUND SPEED ON THE PERFORMANCE OF MECHANICAL RASPBERRY HARVESTERS

Authors:   Craig B. MacConnell, John B. Simpson
Abstract:
The majority of the red raspberries (Rubus idaeus) are harvested mechanically in the Pacific Northwest. Mechanical harvesting loses 20% to 28% of the potential yield through inefficiencies in collection of the fruit. This study looked at the effect of three mechanical harvester beater speeds and four ground speeds on harvest losses.
