ISHS Acta Horticulturae 260: International Symposium on Growth and Yield Control in Vegetable Production

THE VEGETABLE PRODUCTION MONITORING AND CONTROL SYSTEM (VPMCS) A COMBINATION OF COMPUTERIZED TECHNOLOGICAL PLANNING, CROP MANAGEMENT AND ANALYSIS

Authors:   W. Seyd, C. Feller
Abstract:
The vegetable production monitoring and control system (VPMCS) is an information system designed for planning, managing and monitoring the production of vegetables on specified minimum farming units such as fields or parts of them. Basic data about specific fields, soil and plant related activities and checks carried out and the material, equipment and personnel to be used are stored in data banks. With a view to selecting suitable varieties, applying nitrogen fertilizer, making yield forecasts or providing other types of information of relevance from an agricultural, crop production and technological perspective, those data banks and the management programs that go with them are linked up with elements of an expert system for the management of crops.
