| Abstract:
The need for energy saving in greenhouse horticulture is reiterated. The design philosophy of the Burnley Low Energy Greenhouse is explained and details of design and construction of each facet of the project are presented. The use of microprocessors for datalogging and control tasks, the storage of thermal energy under benches, and the modular construction of solar air heaters receive special attention. Methods of disseminating information to the horticultural industry are discussed. | |
