Authors:   D. Sugar, Porter B. Lombard
Abstract:
Commercially available red pear cultivars were evaluated for long-term storage potential, postharvest chilling requirement, and optimum harvest period for long-term storage. Cultivars may be generally classified as follows: very short storage life (less than 2 months): Red Clapp's Favorite and Canal Red; short storage life (2–4 months): Red Bartlett and Rosired Bartlett; medium storage life (4–6 months): Reimer Red, Red Comice, and California Pear; long storage life (more than 6 months): Cascade, Rogue Red, and Red Anjou.
