ISHS Acta Horticulturae 254: II International Peach Symposium

EFFECT OF DIFFERENT LEVELS OF SHALLOW WATER TABLE ON DEATH RATE, GROWTH AND PRODUCTIVITY OF PEACH GRAFTED ON DIFFERENT ROOTSTOCKS

Authors:   A. Alvino, G. Zerbi
Abstract:
A field experiment was carried out to obtain data on the effects of a shallow water table on the behaviour of 'May-crest' peach grafted on peach seedling, on GF 43 and on Damas 1869. During the period from November to March the water table was set using an experimental device which created an inclined water table; its depth varied from 0.1 to 1.20 m. Data regarding mortality, growth and production were recorded during five years from the planting. The results define the critical values of the water table levels for the three rootstocks with relation also to the age of the plants.
