INFLUENCE OF DIFFERENT STORAGE CONDITIONS ON GERMINATION OF SPICES SEEDS |

| Abstract:
Seeds of chives, marjoram, sage, thyme and taragon were six years air-tight stored at three temperatures. Germination tests were carried out each year at different temperatures. Seeds of proved spices have variant demands of temperature for long term storage. Storage of seeds for six years or more is possible for chive and thyme (-20°C), marjoram and taragon (-20, +5°C) and for sage (+5°). At the higher temperatures +10/30°C seeds of taragon can be conserved four and marjoram seeds five years. The storage at these temperatures reduced the germination of chives, sage and thyme after one or two years respectivly. The result of an additional variant with vacuum packing showed no markedly differences to the datas of the air-tight variant. | |
