Abstract:
The chicory seed crops is normally grown as a blennal and sown in late september in Northern-Italy in order to satisfy its vernalization requirement to bolt.
Bolting and seed production hardly occur after early spring-sowing, mainly in late cultivars.
The possibility of inducing flowering and producing seed in spring-sown chicory with seed vernalization and GA3 applications was investigated over a two-years field trial.
