Abstract:
It was previously found that seeds harvested from tomato fruits grown under weedy conditions, had a much higher level of seed vigour than those grown in weed-free conditions.
It was postulated that the low seed vigour under weed-free conditions was a negative effect of insufficient foliage cover resulting in high fruit temperatures hindering fruit and seed development.
