Abstract:
The effect of calcium nitrate and tannins on senescence and ethylene production was followed in cut carnation flowers (Dianthus caryophyllus L. cv.
William Sim). Cut flowers absorbed calcium nitrate and tannins had better longevity than flowers in calcium nitrate or tannins alone.
Ethylene production of flowers treated with calcium and tannins was also delayed and reduced.
