ALAR AND PACLOBUTRAZOL USE ON ROSES

Author:   W. Kaminski
Abstract:
Paclobutrazol in a concentration of 150 ppm / from ‘Bonzi’/ was much more effective than Alar in a concentration of 5000 ppm in the retardation of growth and the stimulation of flowering of young, 45 day old, 7 cm high seedlings of ‘Paprika’ cv.grown in pots. After the use of ‘Bonzi’ the plants had more compact growth, and their shoots were shorter and stiffer with darker green leaves. Though the flowers were somewhat smaller in diameter, the treated plants flowered more aboundantly and were less sensitive to mildew than the non-treated plants and those on which Alar was used.
