ISHS Acta Horticulturae 251: III International Symposium on Growth Regulators in Ornamental Horticulture

THE EFFECT OF GIBBERELLIC ACID ON TULIP LEAF GROWTH IN VITRO

Authors:   L. Kawa, M. Saniewski
Abstract:
Gibberellic acid (GA) had a strong stimulatory effect on the increase in length and fresh and dry weights of leaves isolated from uncooled bulbs in an earlier date of isolation and a lesser effect in later dates.

The growth of explants isolated from cooled bulbs was much greater than in the case of explants isolated from uncooled bulbs, and the stimulatory effect of GA was weaker.

Light had a stimulatory effect on leaf growth when they were isolated from uncooled bulbs, but it did not affect the growth of leaves isolated from cooled bulbs.
