IMPLEMENTATION PROBLEMS OF COMPUTER-BASED PLANNING MODELS IN HORTICULTURAL FIRMS

Author:   S. Gollwitzer
Abstract:
As microcomputers are now widely available, some computer-based planning techniques have been developed for growers and consultants designed especially to support production planning in horticultural firms. The practical use of these planning aids is, however, quite low, particularly in relation to their potential. This has resulted in an implementation gap between what has been developed and what is being used in practice.

This investigation is carried out to describe and to explain the problems of implementation in order to improve the development and introduction of planning systems. The paper presents the theoretical concept as well as some preliminary results of the empirical study.
